The Science Behind Endurance Protein

SEE THE SCIENCE

We could try to pack as much protein as possible into a single bar, but as nutrition science experts, we know that when it comes to optimizing protein intake for endurance athletes, quality is as important as quantity.

ADDRA BARS
CREATED TO MAXIMIZE RECOVERY

Since muscle adaptation is the key to improved performance over time, we created ADDRA protein bars to maximize recovery after tough training sessions and demanding events. And — bonus! — since we’ve all tried more than our fair share of bland, chalky, dry protein bars, we worked with world-class chefs to make sure our bars are delicious. (Science helped with that, too!)

What makes ADDRA ideal for endurance athletes?
Fewer calories with
the same protein punch

Studies suggest that 30g of dairy protein, which naturally contains about 3g of leucine, is ideal for post-exercise recovery for endurance athletes.1 The problem is that providing that level of protein typically takes a lot of calories, and that’s no bueno. We wanted to make a delicious protein bar that enables proper muscle recovery with a lower amount of protein.

And that’s exactly what we’ve done, found the sweet spot.

PROTEIN BARS BOOSTED WITH LEUCINE
ADDED LEUCINE FOR STRONGER RECOVERY

There is evidence to show that a lower level of protein, enriched with added leucine, can have the same effect on muscle protein synthesis as a higher amount of high-quality protein.2 The formulation of ADDRA bars also leverages peer-reviewed studies of bars containing 16g of protein with 1.5g of added leucine. They showed significantly greater effects on blood leucine levels vs 30g high-quality protein in the six hours after ingestion, and also significantly greater effects on post-exercise muscle protein synthesis vs a high protein diet.3,4

Protein bars designed for endurance athletes

Long story short: ADDRA High Performance Protein Bars give endurance athletes the ideal amount of post-workout and/or between meal protein with fewer calories and better convenience.

ADDRA Bars: Protein + Leucine

Precise Protein

Optimal levels of high-quality protein fuel performance and recovery.

BCAA Building Blocks

Essential branched chain amino acids maximize muscle protein synthesis (MPS).

Leucine: The Player/Coach

An additional 1.5g (3g total) of leucine triggers MPS & multiplies protein effectiveness.

We believe science holds the secret to faster recovery and stronger performance.

ADDRA LABS
Empowering
endurance athletes

ADDRA Labs combines the latest nutrition science with decades of athletic experience to provide athletes at every level with the high-quality protein they need to perform at their best. By developing a great-tasting bar that leverages leucine’s ability to initiate and facilitate muscle protein synthesis, ADDRA makes it easy for endurance athletes to get the protein they need after training and throughout the day.
